Supplier Quality Assurance Technologist
Oud-Beijerland, the Netherlands
Some of the world’s most renowned brands in Petcare, Chocolate, Gum and Food are produced in our state-of-the-art factory in the Netherlands and distributed across numerous countries. Raw materials are the first link in the supply chain for building successful brands. You will build a professional relationship with suppliers and guard and improve the quality of inbound raw materials for the Food sites in compliance with the global Material Quality Management standard. One of your key responsibilities will be performing supplier audits in which you will act as lead auditor to verify the quality and effectiveness of the controls by auditing the suppliers’ production facilities and implement corrective actions where needed. As for continuous improvement, you’ll manage risks by initiating and driving actions both internally and externally, and serve as a key member of the quality review meetings. In the field of food safety risk, you provide input on the risks of existing and new materials and supporting R&D to ensure risks are broken down into microbiological, chemical and physical specifications.
This highly versatile position requires a candidate who is able and willing to develop and grow further within the organisation. You will be supported by the Regional SQA Manager, other SQA technologists, the Regional and Global Sourcing managers and the Commercial site coordinators. You will also work closely with R&D Product Development for Specifications management and colleagues from the Site Quality & Food Safety teams. Good communication (verbal and written English, ideally also Dutch) and persuasion and influencing skills at all levels of the organisation are essential. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or a similar scientific or technical field and have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical area such as R&D product development, quality assurance, laboratory management, manufacturing, or food engineering. Knowledge of and experience with HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000 and /or ISO 9001 are preferred. You are willing to travel 25-30% of the time to suppliers and Mars sites, mainly within Europe. This is a full-time position.
