Technical Support Specialist



Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Carry out work and implement standards as established by the System and Network Engineering Teams in regard to planning and supporting the plants in the areas of Desktop, WAN, LAN, Servers and Disaster Recovery.
  • Provide second level diagnostic support the System and Network Engineering Teams and the Service Desk in supporting the plants as it relates to; Desktops, WAN, LAN, and Servers documentation.
  • Captures site specific network, server, and end device documentation.
  • Participate in global support on-call rotation to support the various geographic syncreon plants and locations
  • Proactively watches emails for alert notifications from the service desk and resolves or escalates these as required.
  • Escalate where required to the Service Desk following the predefined escalation procedure.
  • Provide onsite support for new site launches, server / network refreshes and support other projects as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or related discipline/ a combination of equivalent professional training and certifications, combined with related work experience in a position(s) with increasing responsibility and supervisory duties;
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar role;
  • Experience of working in a high pressure environment and exposure to working on implementation projects is required.
  • Experience of managing 3rd party vendors would also be very desirable.
  • The role will involve supporting users and servers on both the local site and as part of our technical support services team you will remotely support all other syncreon sites globally.

The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate the following attributes
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of desktop hardware, operating systems and software
  • A good understanding of network systems and protocols and of server hardware and operating systems lea
  • Solid attention to detail and the ability to create and document process and procedures
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (in English) with internal and external clients
  • The ability to work within a very demanding environment and handling stress in a positive manner
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks. Good problem solver
  • English fluent
  • Flexible attitude (willing to work in shifts and in the weekend)

Essential Technical Skills
Microsoft Windows XP / Vista / 7, Microsoft Office 2003 / 2007 /2010, Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, Active Directory / DNS / DHCP / WSUS, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 / 2007, MacAfee Antivirus Products – EPO / Virusscan, Desktops and Laptops – Dell, Laser Printers – HP / Dell / Lexmark, Label Printers - Zebra / Intermec.

Desirable Technical Skills
BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 and Microsoft Hyper-V, Servers –Dell / IBM, Apple Mac Hardware Support, Barcode Scanners – Teklogix / Symbol / Datalogic, Microsoft SharePoint Services Admin Experience, Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007/Lync 2010.

Additional information
You will be based in Venray.
